Sure, you can replay the take directly from the camera, but due to the fact, that this system is much more flexible, the possibilities how to work with the take are much wider. You can annotate each take and switch between them with much more freedom and speed. This allows you to work with your filming material more effectively and, what is even more important, you see the high quality output while it is being filmed. VISION software is a 2-camera video assist. It records secondary video streams from 2 cameras simultaneously. It means that in every take, the playback of camera A & B is always in sync and you can view then both side by side at the same time.

While you are setting cameras for the next scene you can still preview all the previous takes. You can mark each take with 1-5 stars, depending on how you like the result, or even mark the take with an X- if the take is not meeting your demands. Additionally, you can annotate all the takes with meaningful descriptions, so when you come back to them later, you will be able to read all your previous comments. This may help you decide which take is the most suitable to use. You can also filter all the takes by date or by a scene number. This way you can review all the takes, you have taken during a particular filming day or to immediately find the certain scene, simply, by typing the scene number. While recording or previewing you can set IN / OUT points of the take and LOOP the playback between them. This allows you to directly point out the starting point and the ending point of a particular scene, which you can play over again.

At least your filmmaker life… It is simple: you just have to hit the big red RECORD button. When you want to play it back, switch to PLAYBACK mode and hit PLAY. It is that simple. For smaller crews where crew members wear many hats, you don’t even need a dedicated video assist person. DA, PA or even director can easily operate the VISION Video Assist. VISION video assist becomes especially indispensable on a multi-day productions when you have to deal with “continuity”.
